Right in Aspen’s Backyard
Moab, located in the heart of Canyon Country, boasts some of the world’s most spectacular scenery. For years, locals have made the four+ hour drive to Moab. When the snow starts to melt, and Aspen enters its “mud season”, Moab is at its prime. With the recent expansion of Canyonlands Airport, the ramp will remind you of Aspen with private aircraft from all over the globe bringing visitors to experience and photograph our beautiful scenery. Moab has recently become a true world class destination.
Tours & Heli-Canyoneering
Flight Seeing and Photography
The day begins in Aspen when we pick you up in our luxury Sprinter van at your accommodations and on to Aspen airport. From there, we will board the Swiss made Pilatus PC 12 aircraft for a scenic flight to Canyonlands Airport where you will board a Robinson R66 or R44 helicopter.
A scenic tour over Canyon Country is an experience you will never forget. The helicopter adventure begins as the Pilatus is met by Pinnacle’s ground support in the golf cart and taken to Pinnacle’s brand new on-airport base and helipads. From there, a number of different tours are available each their own unique experience.
Pinnacle Helicopters is Southeast Utah and Moab’s premier aerial service company for specialized photograph and filming services. Whether you are an amateur photographer or professional videographer, Pinnacle Helicopters has the capability to ensure a successful project.
Hidden Splendor/Muddy Creek
A short and very scenic flight takes you across some of North America’s most remote desert and through the beautiful San Rafael Reef to a remote landing strip left over from Moab’s uranium mining boom in the 1950s. Bring your river shoes! From Hidden Splendor you will be guided up the beautiful Muddy Creek into the slot canyon that was cut by this tiny river. It is truly an extraordinary hike into a slot canyon less the rappels and technical challenges.
Duration 4 -6 hours
Heli-Camping is an exciting way to explore Muddy Creek in both directions; the canyon and abandoned uranium mine downstream back through the “Reef”, and upstream into the main canyon. Designated back county BLM campsites on Muddy Creek offer the perfect Heli-Basecamp for this adventure. Support will be provided by ground (6 hours from Moab!) by local outfitters to ensure that every comfort is made available.
One to multiday adventures.
Little Blue John Loop
Little Blue John is considered one of the most scenic canyons in the world. It is moderately challenging, and a great canyon for both seasoned canyoneers and newcomers alike. Utilizing the swift access of a helicopter to and from Little Blue John makes this somewhat restrictive canyon more accessible and allows for an easy and painless way to complete this natural wonder in half-a-day.
Duration 4-6 hours Rappels 2-3
Aron Ralston Route
This route was made famous by adventurer Aron Ralston, who after 127 hours finally extricated himself from a trapped boulder to survive. For the first time ever, we can now easily take you through the route that he took, which in itself is one of Moab’s most scenic slot canyons. After landing in the canyon, you will encounter multiple rappels into this amazing slot canyon. The trip ends with an iconic 90 ft rappel into Blue John Canyon, where a short hike will lead you to your helicopter.
Duration 6-8 hours Rappels 1-4
ROBINSON R66 TURBINE
The helicopter is designed and built by Robinson Helicopter Company. It is powered by the Rolls-Royce RR300 turboshaft engine, luxury seats, a separate cargo compartment and fantastic visibility.
Two Robinson R44 Ravens
Pinnacle’s R44s are powered by trusted Lycoming fuel injected engines, are beautifully maintained and support the back country operations.
